If you complete all the challenges in a single hike, the total distance is approximately 5 miles. However, the course is designed to be enjoyed over multiple trips if completing it all at once isn’t an option. The terrain is slightly hilly, and the trails are well-maintained. This course is recommended for groups of 2-4 and ages 4 and up, but can be enjoyed by all ages!

During the canal era of the mid-1800s to the early 1900s, Point of Rocks was a vibrant town with hotels, restaurants, mills, general stores, and even an ice cream shop.
Today, the original village area is a county park and a parking lot for railroad commuters. It is also frequented by visitors to the C&O Canal National Historical Park for various recreational activities, including biking, hiking, fishing, boating, and more. A few services, a library, a church, and the Point of Rocks Train Station remain. The station is one of the most photographed stations in America. Point of Rocks has easy access to the Washington D.C. metro area by way of highways and the MARC train. In spite of that proximity, it retains its charm as a small country town.
